Our wedding stuff worked out fine! The cake was made by someone who makes gluten-free cakes for a local vegan cafe, so that was pretty reliable! The restaurant did good, also, and even sorted out a vegan alcohol/wine menu for us. :)

Hey, I hope the whole vegan gluten-free wedding thing went well. We ended up trying to do gluten-free vegan, but the caterers sort of messed up (it was vegan and only three of the eight courses were gluten-free), but we baked our own wedding cupcakes so at least we knew they were fine.

I love this crust. It's biscuit-like consistency is wonderful. I altered the dough slightly and used it for several other things (including strawberry short cake). Thanks so much for this versatile dough!

Hi, Ross. Thanks for your comments!

Animal flesh is difficult to digest as the human intestines are better suited to pushing through plants. Carnivores have short, smooth intestines and highly-acidic gastric juices to break down and digest meat quickly before it rots. Herbivores have long, pocketed intestinal tracts for digesting primarily plant matter. The human intestines closely resemble herbivorous digestive system, suggesting humans are better suited to plant-based diets. Here's a neat little chart comparing digestive systems that's worth a gander.

In regards to your question posted elsewhere - I haven't had success with making gluten-free bread in our breadmaking machine, either. I find most Orgran products to be pretty useless!

I hope you don't mind me asking but do you or any of your contributors know a good gluten free bread recipe for a bread maker?

I am in Australia so I know Orgran products but have not had great success with bread.

Thanks, and regards.

Hi, and thanks so much for your blog. I googled looking for gluten free bread recipes and somehow ended up on your great blog. Glad I did as I have bookmarked and will return.

We eat gluten free because of my wife's intolerance. I have esophogitis and meat seems to upset me. Don't know why but it seems to take me much longer to digest meat these days.

Thanks again, and I will definately be back.

Regards, Ross.

I continue to be disturbed at people's instistence to push and subsidise environmentally unsound animal cruelty...
I also continue to learn more and more that makes me very, very happy to be vegan.

Enjoy the wedding!

You can use guar gum instead of xantham gum. Arrowroot is the same as tapioca starch, doesn't function like a gum.

You can leave the gum out, the texture will just be more crumbly. The gums are common in health stores, including online health stores, too.

hey just wondering whether pure Arrowroot is a feasible substitute to Xanthan gum? I'm unable to find it anywhere, but can source arrowroot.

This recipe looks great!! : ) I love bananas and have been a big fan of carob from childhood! I'm a 70's baby so grew up with homemade carob cookies. I am new to using spirulina powder so this may be my first recipe. I'm super excited that I found your blog!
