Vegan, vegan, vegan, vegan, vegan. Did I mention vegan?
October 7, 2007 by Renee
This blog is a gluten-free recipe blog, but it’s also vegan - check the title. Vegan means I do not want to know where to buy organic animal corpses, nor do I want to look at your gluten-free blog that contains nearly 100% non-vegan corpse-laden recipes, however well-intentioned you may have thought the “check this out, you might like it” comment to be. I’m not interested in recipes or advice in regards to animal corpses (meat/flesh), animal lactation fluids (processed cow or goat secretions/dairy products), animal reproductive secretions (eggs, caviar), bug goo (honey, beeswax, cochineal, etc), or whatever other bizarre or unnecessary animal “products” you choose to ingest. Thanks, anyway… I think…!
Please read the Why Vegan? section of this website for more information as to why myself, my partner, and many of our friends are vegan.
Additionally, I live in Australia… most of the time. Unless your gluten-free vegan product is available in the land of Oz, please don’t bother trying to sell it to me! International postage on food items to our isolated island continent usually sucks. I will pass on relevant info to international readers, but only if it’s relevant, and is both gluten-free AND vegan… Vegan vegan vegan! Got it?
I hope this post has cleared things up… I don’t mean to sound pushy, but some people are clearly missing the point. Gluten-free, yes, but also vegan recipes and content - no exceptions. I will continue to filter out inappropriate comments. All this makes me wonder whether I should also be blogging about animal rights issues and activism occasionally in-between recipes… Quite probably I should, at least occasionally, although it wasn’t my intention for this to be an AR blog… Any thoughts?
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! ![]()
Your blog is your blog and can be whatever you want it to be! Anyway, I’m glad I found you via Celine. I am not a celiac, but gluten intolerant, and of course vegan. I’m also soy intolerant, so my food choices are rather limited and I’m always looking for creative recipes and “new” foods.
I’m glad I found your blog - the recipes look great!
Soy intolerant would be extra tricky! I do love a good rice milk for a change now and then, even though I am a big fan of soy. My partner isn’t into tofu as much as I am, so we’ve been cutting down on that for a while… There are so many other foods out there! There are no limits, even when there are limits… if you know what I mean.
Love your blog. Stick with it. Be clear. Love that you were able to do it. Love your passion.

Celiac meat-eater turned something else. Not sure what. Still exploring. But thinking about converting to vegan. My adult kids aren’t thrilled (23, 25 yrs). Think I’m already limited enough as it is by being gluten free. Bought my first two vegan books and have begun using them - Vegan Vittles by Jo Stepaniak (made the Southern Fried Tofu and loved it) and The Everyday Vegan by Drenna Burton. Love your blog, your passion, your humor. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks VegeYum & Ellen.
I need to check out Vegan Vittles. I’ve heard good things.
& y’know, I certainly began eating a wider range of foods when I went vegan, and then when gluten-free came along I started using a greater range of flours… every “restriction” just brings more variety because it forces you to look around more! The days of 2-minutes noodles are far, far behind me now…
Hi I just ran acrossed your blog when googling Vegan gluten free recipes. I am vegan for medical reasons. I cannot even eat anything with any animal products in it. I just need ideas to diversify my diet a little. Keep up the good work. Judy
I’m new to your blog. Would love to read your thoughts on animals rights, etc., if you do decide to post on those topics.
I’m on an essentially vegan diet for health reasons right now (though I am not adhering to it 100%, I tend to let myself “cheat” on weekends, and no I don’t consider myself vegan obviously) and am supposed to avoid gluten/wheat, so I’m really excited about looking through your blog for recipes and cookbook reviews and so on. Just the two posts I’ve read now have been incredibly useful.
I am so glad I found your site! I have fibromyalgia and chronic migraines, and have determined that I need to be on a gluten-free, soy-free, preservative-free vegan diet. Talk about intimidating!! Your various posts have been tremendously helpful and inspiring, helping me envision a do-able new lifestyle. I’m still working on the total vegan lifestyle (i.e., giving up delicious fashionable leather shoes), but I’ll get there eventually (when I get tired of my feet hurting).
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration! I’ll be visiting often.
